2022 Back to school plan comes to an end
The Qld Department of Education's Back to school plan comes to an end today, Friday 4 March, and many restrictions across Queensland will ease.
COVID restrictions in Queensland will ease from 6pm today, including at workplaces, schools and early childhood services.
- Face masks will no longer be required in schools and restrictions on visitors to school sites will be lifted.
- Restrictions for visitors on school sites, will be lifted. Parents, carers, volunteers, contractors and other visitors will be welcome on school sites.
- School camps, excursions, assemblies and large gatherings can recommence.
Vaccine mandates remain in place for Qld state school, however, as per previous advice from Qld Health and the Director General of the Qld Department of Education.
Managing unwell staff and students
Staff and students who develop COVID-19 symptoms whilst at schools, will continue to be provided a rapid antigen test (RAT) to administer at home. They will also continue to be prioritised at Queensland Health testing clinics for rapid antigen or PCR tests.
Students and staff experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should not attend their schools or workplaces.
If students develop or display COVID-19 symptoms, parents will be called and asked to make arrangements to collect their child early.
